Vehicle Details 1967 Convertible Volkswagen Beetle. 77,758 original miles. One owner. Front seats were removed 40 years ago, and replaced with high backs, that are in very fine condition. The seat pattern matches the original bench backseat. Exterior Too many to list, for the moment. I’ll supplement soon. My Dad bought this new, in 1967, for $2,455.04. He traded in his red … 1961 “Rambler 1081†… receiving a $200 trade-in credit. This beetle was also known affectionately by my friends, as “The June Bug†… my Mom being named June, was the primary driver … in the beginning years. It’s been in my Dad’s name until just now; my wife formally receiving it through his estate. Fabuluous project car. It’s been stored for over 35 years. The engine does not appear to be seized. It turned well with a wrench, anyway. We’ve not yet had an oppourtunity to fire it up. My Dad purchased replacement bumpers, brackets, and running boards some 20-30 years ago; and they’re still in the original packages. See pic #13. The front seats were replaced with “high backs†long ago, and are in great shape; and were just recently pulled out to access, clean, and condition. Floor panels are rusted; but there’s seemingly very little rust elsewhere. In fact, the paint is polishing out pretty well for a 55 year old car. Heavy original chrome trim on the windows still remains; as does the original trunk tool kit. It was “largely†repainted in the late 70’s or early 80’s, as we best recall. The existing paint finish just might look “better†polished out with flaws and all … “as is†… than with a complete fancy-dan re-paint; and by adding “new†chrome and “new†black rubber trim strips. We have the original 1967 issued title; original owner’s manual in the original blue dealership cover; several old-fashion Indiana state inspection reports; and, even the original purchase agreement, from Gene Thompson Motors, dated 5/25/67. The convertible top is black, and likely, it and its frame hardware, all need replaced. We’ve not yet pulled it up. The original back seat is in very fine shape, as are all of the interior door panels. It’s a very, very cool car. All 3 numbers “match†- 1. front trunk; 2. under back seat floor; and 3. engine. Made in Germany. Interior Wooden steering wheel in pics 1 & 2 is being refinished. As is the wooden gear shift knob (not yet in photo album) is also in the process of being refinished. Pic #7 is back floorboard chassis number which matches front trunk body number. Engine Turns well with a wrench….. Not yet fired her up. My Dad said he was always told by whoever serviced it that … it had great compression. Engine # is: H0 610840 It matches this model, as well, and is original. Download the eBay Motors app
