What started as a father/son project eventually got a brother involved and continued to be thoughtfully, professionally modified into retirement years. All too often you see a custom rod like this and the closer you look the more you see that is tatty and aged: rust bubbles chrome, cracked body filler, orange peel in the paint, pitted glass, dried out weather seals, etc. Not here. The closer you look the more perfection you find. (Note- there is a tiny half-dollar sized crack in the paint on the driver’s side pick-up bed step.) Chevy 454 was bored out to 468 and mated to a 700R4 transmission to a narrowed 9†Ford posi rear end. You’ll find Hooker headers (with dumps!), fuel injection, electronic ignition, power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, 4-link rear end and a Mustang II front clip. Gas tank has been removed from the cab and relocated beneath the rear truck bed. Flawless bodywork wrapped in white with silver ghost flames, new weather seals, new glass, custom made front seats, in-dash custom A/C, CD player, recently updated shocks, tires and wheels. Spray-in bedliner in matching white. This truck won “Best New Project†at the 2002 Kansas City World of Wheels in it’s early development stage and has had another 20 years of upgrades since then. Cruise all day at 75mph, this truck drives straight and true as you sit in the air conditioning behind your tilt wheel and crank up the stereo on your way to the next rod show.
