1956 Cadillac Eldorado (Red/White/Red/White)

Price: US $105,000.00 SOLD OUT

I traded the convertible from a very good friend who's father bought it originally in LA. The car has no rust and is a perfect southern cal car. About 10 years ago my friend sent it to a shop to do a complete restoration and switch from the original Blue to the current red. After fleecing my friend for about 50k and only restoring the car to the current condition, the shop sold off the interior and most of the large chrome parts. My buddy had no more cash to complete the restoration and purchase the missing parts so I agreed to trade him for a very nice completed hot rod I had. Once I got the Cadi home I started looking for the missing parts and realized pretty quickly this was going to be expensive and time consuming. Another problem I ran into was since I had not torn the car down I was not completely sure how it went back together. So, to resolve both of problems I figured I would be better of purchasing an original Seville from the same year since most of the parts I needed are the same and if I could find an original car I could also see how everything was installed. After many years looking I finally found a perfect seville that I now own. This car like the convertible has all the options for that year and is actually a very nice car. Since the convertable frame, engine, transmission, was done well, I was able to get it running pretty quickly once I had the Seville to see how all the engine controls and such where installed. Unfortunately, the only thing I have removed from the Seville and installed on the Convertable is the front Chrome. Both cars now run but I simply don't have the time to put into bring the convertible up to its potential. It is beautiful car but if I had the time I would probably tear it down again and repaint the body to its original Light Azure Blue. Of all the Eldorado's that I have seen sale, the Light Blue seems to be one of the most beautiful and restoring the car to its original configuration in my opinion would make it more valuable. After removing the interior and the needed chrome, The Seville would still have tremendous value to part out, or even hot rod….Some resourceful person could easily either make some money or own a very rare and desirable version of the Second most valuable year Cadillac convertible after the 1957…..
